In addition to his work with the CCBDD, Brugger had a distinguished career with the City of Urbana, where he served as Director of Administration. He retired from that role in September 2025, marking the close of a long career in public service.
“Kerry’s leadership has had a lasting impact on our board and on the lives of the individuals and families we serve,” said Leigh Anne Wenning, Superintendent of the Champaign County Board of Developmental Disabilities. “His steady guidance, thoughtful decision-making, and deep commitment to public service will be greatly missed.” Following Brugger’s retirement, the CCBDD announced the following leadership transitions: current Vice President Laurie Stickney will assume the role of President; the current Secretary, David Sapp, will move into the Vice President position; and Amy Wilcoxon will serve as Secretary. The Board extends its sincere appreciation to Kerry Brugger for his years of leadership and service and wishes him well in his retirement. The next scheduled CCBDD board meeting will be held Thursday, February 26, at 4:30 p.m. at the CCBDD office.
